A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I loving yellow at the moment and have been trying to integrate it into my wardrobe for the summer. Though I am slow at letting go of my dark winter knits my friend and co-worker Ami decided to ignore the horrendous weather (strong wind and heavy rain is not fun to dress for) and add a bit of sunshine yellow to her outfit last week... and I loved it.Converse teamed with leather leggings, Zara khaki jacket finished off with a canary yellow jumper just looked wonderful on her.
What do you think of Ami's outfit??

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN: comes to London's design museum
On the 1st May (a week on Tuesday)I will be a busy bee as I have a big event for IKEA happening in the morning that I am running so am having to knuckle down and make sure it goes without a hitch.
Though the other reason this date is marked in my diary is that it is the launch of HRH shoe guru, Christian Louboutin's exhibition at the Design Museum in London.
To celebrate the iconic French shoe designer's 20th year, Christian Louboutin will be showcasing his work and career journey,in an exquisite exhibition that will examine the many sources of his creativity.... shoes inspired by performance; cabaret and the showgirl; fantasy and fairy tale; art and architecture; film; landscape and travel. The exhibition will also focus on the handcrafted shoe, one-off designs which incorporate his highly innovative ideas, forms and materials. There will be a special section dedicated to the shoes designed for ‘Fetish’ an exhibition at the La Gallerie Du Passage, Paris in 2007, a unique collaboration of photography between Louboutin and acclaimed artist David Lynch.
One part that I think will be magical in the exhibition will be the areas that show his unique design process, taking visitors through every stage of the design journey, revealing how a shoe is constructed, from the initial drawing and first prototype through to production in the factory. Which will be really interesting to see.
Personally I cant wait to see this exhibition and have been waiting for it to open since last summer when it was announced. I will be attending the exhibition of course (maybe a couple of times) during its run from 1st May-9th July.
For more information on the range or to book tickets go to the Design Museum's website.
Have a good Monday!

and she played..nope..wore a harmonica...
Even though I can be seen as a little serious sometimes, I do have a massive childish side to me that loves nothing more than to indulge in watching the odd Sponge-Bob Square Pants while eating a sugary bowl of Lucky charms cereal (it's a cereal with marshmallows in it and if you haven't tried it, you have to!). So yes, I like things that could be seen as a little silly and that of a 12 year old. Anyway a couple of weekends ago while in Milton Keynes I came accross a little shop called Ark which sells both men's and women's clothes (some of which had a little too much Lycra in) that are a little bit edgy. Though the gem that I found in a bowl by the till, was a tiny gold harmonica on a gold chain.. which actually worked! At a snip at £8 I thought it would be a fun addition to my necklace collection and something a little different from what I usually go for... however the only draw back so far is that I have now been banned from playing it!

Goodbye to Aquascutum...
One of the saddest stories to come out in the press this week (from a fashion point a view)was the shocking news that famous British heritage brand Aquascutum was going into now administration.
I remember growing up with brand, and one of my dear friends Lucy is a massive fan of their clothing ( mainly the beautiful trench coats!) and it is a real same to see British brand go under.
A spokesperson for FRP Advisory said they 'have conducted a detailed review of the company’s financial position' that has resulted in the 'difficult decision' to close Aquascutum's manufacturing plant in Corby with the loss of 115 jobs. Meanwhile, the brand's HQ and high street stores are operating as usual.... for now.
there were signs last week and the beginning of this week that things weren't good for the 160-year-old brand. Starting with Aquascutum closing its Regent Street store after 110 years at the same site. Then British Fashion Council Chairman Harold Tillman sold a majority stake in sister company Jaeger on Monday, followed then by Aquascutum's press day, being cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances'. Was it that they just couldn't compete with the likes of Burberry? Who are pushing ahead with sales and immersing themselves in making the brand current as well as keeping its heritage roots. Which seems to be working in terms of sales. Just what went wrong?,can someone buy the brand in time?... and which British brand is next on the chopping board?

Street Style: they call me mellow yellow...
Out of all of the shades that will be prominent this summer, yellow is the shade I am most looking forward to wearing.

Whether it is a soft pastel shade, bold canary or that bright acid yellow (sunglasses are compulsory) everyone can wear this colour no matter what their hair colour or skin tone. On a personal level I look best in a soft pastel lemon yellow as I am quite far skin, though Lucy my old house-mate could get away with shades of yellow that were a bit garish, due to her olive complexion. Though as a primary colour (this takes me back to art class) it is surprising how many colours yellow can go with..rich purple, navy blue, green. even though it 'technically isn't a colour, white always goes beautifully with yellow.. though black on the other hand can be a hit or miss... bumble bee jokes may be made at your expense.

I will of course post up my yellow outfits as when they are worn (praying for the weather to get better before I get my legs out, though I think I will be sticking to accents of the colour in my outfits, not over kill.... as the worse thing really would be to look like big bird!
