Street Style: The wedge sandal...

One trend this summer that I haven't quite got to grips with is the 70's wedged shoe, not the sexy elevated heel kind but the ones that are reasonably flat but with a huge wedge.
This 70's trend seems to sit in the same category as the highly desired Prada wedged loafers/tennis shoe, which many fashion editors and other fashion bloggers have commented on it is a must have item this season. Though personally I think they are a little ugly and really aren’t very flattering on the average woman (equalling those not 5'9 and skinny). Worst of all if you have a size 7 feet (US size 9) your feet look like boats! Sadly I do feel the same way about many of the high street similar style 70's wedged sandal options too. Maybe under a pair of wide leg trousers or palazzo pants they might look OK?

I recently spotted a girl on Carnaby street wearing wedged platform shoes that I thought looked OK, as hers had a chunky heel on them. What do you think? Are they a practical for of footwear? Are they 'sexy'? What I can say is that you will never see me ever sporting those wedged Prada loafers.
