It's mid-February and what is making me feel excited? (and no it's not Valentines Day)..... its the start of New York Fashion Week. As I sit on the other side of the Atlantic in London, I am filled with anticipation, as Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week kicks off state-side. With a jam packed schedule of shows, designers will be feeling the heat as fashion editors, buyers and celebrities judge their hard work and the A/W 2011 collections that they have put their heart and soul into. It is a slight guilty pleasure of mine to look at both what is happening on the catwalk as well as what is happening off it... usually in the front row. Of cause it is no surprise that most of the seats that line the runway are held for the celebrity fans and the top players in the fashion industry, and unsurprisingly there is the occasional seating adjustment that have to be made last minute. I love to see what they are wearing and how they have styled their chosen outfit (usually the main garment is by the designer whom show they are attending, as it can be seen as very rude not to wear a design of theirs!). There will be a few celebrities that will be lining the catwalks during the week that I will be looking out for. London girl Alexa Chung has already been spotted. Chloe Sevigny, the Olsen girls and even gossip girl Leighton Meester will show their faces at a few shows. NYC DJ Leigh Lezark is highly likely to put in an appearance as well as NYC (The City) fashion forward Olivia Palermo and Whitney Port. It is a given that all these ladies will be styled up and placing their best foot forward (in probably a pair of beautifully sculptured shoes) and showing that they’re fashion forward thinkers.
In regards to shows, I have a list as long as my arm of who I am looking forward to seeing the collections of. Diane Von Furstenburg always creates beautiful outfits with great prints, Carolina Herrera, Derek Lamb, Micheal Kors and Jen Kao who I think has an amazing way with fabric. Jen is known for her innovative tailoring, use of leather and experimental knits and I am excited about seeing her collection worn on the catwalk.

Who are you looking forward to seeing during the weeks shows? Or are you not fussed about New York and are more excited about London Fashion Week?
