Maxi skirts for February

Indeed I am a fan of the mini-skirt, however as a girl in my mid to late 20's, I feel i need to stay clear of them until the weather cheers up and my legs are a little bit more toned and tanned before I brave them with bare legs.

Though it does appear that I am not the only one who has retired my mini to the back of my closet until summer. It seems that many are picking up on the designers prediction of long maxi skirts and wearing them with style and ease in the middle of February. Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, Louis Vitton and Ralph Lauren all showed long skirts in their collections last year. Models flaunted skirts that fell between the ankle and shin in a variety of prints and fabrics.

As you can see from the images I have include, the look exurbs a kind of effortless elegance and femininity. Many stores are stocking these skirts now. Topshop have a beautiful light blue skirt pleated maxi skirt with a skeleton leaf print on which is a favourite of mine, both Urban Outfitters and ASOS have a selection of more plain coloured skirts for those wishing to stick to key neutral colours.

I love these long skirts with a tucked in t-shirt or vest top with a few long necklaces piled on top. The good thing with this style of skirt is that is pretty much goes with every type of shoe... brogues, flat-soled biker boots, wedges, sandals.. the world is your oyster! I would be interested to see how someone who is shorter and curvier would pull off this look? Would the look drown then? Any volunteers willing to test this theory please get in contact or comment... is this a style for just the super tall and the super slim?
