Power dressing in a woman's world

Nothing makes me feel better than a little bit of power dressing occasionally. Putting on a crisp white shirt and a tailored jacket often makes me stand that little bit straighter.

There is the impression that people that work in the fashion industry circles hate corporate dressing, however the minimalistic/masculine trend was seen with designers Phoebe Philo for Celine and Alexander Wang in their fall collections last year (with its few tweaks of course).

At the end of last year (while it wasn't -4) it was clear to see that tailored dressing was still very popular with women adding extras to their looks... whether it be with a black pussy bow to substitute for a tie or putting a thin belt with a waistcoat.. they aimed at making their style unique and non-corporate with these feminine touches.

The trend is making a push again into our wardrobes in spring/summer 2011 in the form long waistcoats and white blazers. Think this may be an item to add to my closet once the weather warms up a little. Best places to try are stores like Mango, Zara, H&M and Topshop.
